South China House of Technology and Soundclassy speak with Hurrairah bin Sohail about the audio installation they undertook for a multi-purpose venue in Hong Kong.
Installing AV equipment on site and getting disparate AV systems to work together with cohesion is the sign of competent integration. The Skyline banquet hall serves as an example. Sammy Chan from South China House of Technology (SCHOT) was the project manager from the integrator side for with installation while Him Chan from Soundclassy served as the consultant.
The project commenced in December 2014 and was completed in March 2015. The owners of Skyline banquet hall had allocated an AV budget of over HKD 1,000,000 with the aim of procuring audio, video, lighting and control systems.
Him Chan talks about the scope of the project: “Our job was to o design a highly automated AV system for this local seafood restaurant with multi-purpose use such as weddings, seminars and more. The owner would like to provide his hotel top notch AV systems but also make sure they are suitable for use by unskilled operational personnel.â€
In addition the owner also indicated that certain AV systems were a must. Chan says: “We were told that the AV systems deployed must include KTV [karaoke] and seminar facilities.â€
For this specific need a JBL KX100 karaoke processor has been deployed at the main karaoke area while an AKG WMS470 wireless handheld microphone system can be used by patrons for the purpose of singing. Audio is provided by a number of JBL 16C/T ceiling speakers while the two private VIP rooms in the karaoke area are fitted with a single JBL 12C/T ceiling speaker each.
Supplying such a system requires more than just installing the relevant communication solutions.
