Mahajak Development walks us through the AV deployment at Grande Centre Point Lumphini in Bangkok, Thailand where flexibility came to the fore to help the hotel stand out in the competitive hospitality sector.
The Grande Centre Point Lumphini is a new hotel in the heart of Bangkok looking to provide a premium experience for patrons. The project was also a strong contender and finalist for the Hospitality Project category at the Inavate APAC Awards 2025.
With a vision to make every space multi-functional, adaptable, and seamless, the hotel engaged Mahajak Development to deliver an intelligent AV ecosystem. Mahajak was the system integrator for this design and build project.
The AV deployment spans across two floors and nine versatile venues. It was built on the three core pillars of powerful audio, crystal-clear visuals, and intuitive control. The aim was to ensure every room performed its functions to a high degree. The client’s instructions were clear. They wanted the technology to enable flexible operations.
Pongsakorn Kanchanachayphoom, chief operation officer (COO), professional products & solutions business, Mahajak, and the team secured the project due to the client’s existing confidence in the integrator’s design and installation capabilities.
Kanchanachayphoom provides insight into the initial phase of the project: “This one is a new project, and the client wanted the technology to enable flexible operations not just making this a premium, luxury hotel for visitors but also an effective and impactful space for events from corporate gatherings, seminars, to weddings and more.”
With flexibility being a primary goal, Mahajak went down the AV-over-IP route. Supasek Sanmano, integrated solution manager, Mahajak, details the technical necessity of this approach: “We needed to optimise the bandwidth we’re running around the meeting space, which is part of the client network, so we needed 4K over a 1Gb network. The choice of AV over IP was also needed to meet stringent connectivity requirements, ensuring the ability to link at least 10 sources across the building using the infrastructures, plus additional resources, available on the client network.”
Just Add Power encoders and decoders were chosen and addressed the need of the project. The requirement for 4K capability was driven by the hotel’s spectacular visual assets. The Grande Centre Point Lumphini boasts two Samsung LED 2.5mm pixel pitch videowalls, measuring 12.48m by 5.4m and 8.64m by 3.78m respectively.
Sanmano stresses the importance of resolution, noting: “One of the LED videowalls is almost 13m wide. So, we need to support the highest resolution possible to make full use of the screen real estate.”
To manage the videowall configuration, the team leveraged the capabilities of the AV-over-IP platform, and Sanmano elaborates: “We used the videowall function in Just Add Power devices to divide and send the proper image to the LEDs to match what the customer needs. The system also utilises the built-in scaler from Just Add Power to create multiple resolutions in the room for the LED videowall and the various other displays. This allows non-technical users to confidently send a source across multiple screens in the room without worrying about external scaling or configuration.”
In addition to the videowalls, Panasonic projectors with 16,500 lumens and 8,000 lumens brightness have been deployed in certain spaces. Sanmano explains the rationale for using projection in these areas: “In some of the function rooms, and the combinable spaces, we have chosen to go with projectors because that enables the flexibility to use these rooms together or divided. Furthermore, the projection screens can be rolled up when the display is not in use giving a clean aesthetic.” The audio side of the installation is comprehensive, with signal transmission running over Dante. The system features JBL SRX 900 series, BRX 300 series, and Control series speakers, Crown amplifiers, BSS DSP, and Shure QLXD wireless microphones.
Regarding the selection of speakers, Sanmano comments: “We had a compact space for the control room which meant we had to be economical with our racks. We decided to use the JBL line arrays as they are self-powered so that we would not have to put in a lot of amplifiers. Additionally, the flexibility of the JBL SRX 900 series means that they can be moved quite easily if needed.”
He continues: “The client can control the speakers over the JBL Performance application. They can do fine adjustment by themselves and also recall presets when the rooms need to be activated for a specific event in a specific configuration.”
The control system architecture is centred on the AMX NX-2200 processor paired with Varia-SL80 8-in touchpanels and Apple iPads. This intuitive architecture empowers staff to manage everything from AV functions to lighting through customisable presets and wireless controls. The result is that even nontechnical staff can operate complex event scenarios with confidence.
Regarding the programming and setting up of the control system, Sanmano comments: “We have been working with Grande Centre Point for a while having delivered a few of their hotels before so we were familiar with their requirements. Nevertheless, we spoke with the operators, developed the control logic, and programmed what they wanted. We put all the information and functions into our system first, and after that, we just combined every function that they needed and the single room logic they wanted as ‘buttons’. You just click and the system will do the rest for you. After that, you have an advanced configuration page to do the detailed control, such as patching the signal across the building.”
Mahajak went beyond the call of duty to deliver for their client and help them overcome business challenges. Kanchanachayphoom highlights: “The hospitality sector is extremely competitive in Bangkok and hotels are looking for every edge they can get. We deployed spectacular videowalls for Grande Centre Point Lumphini but displays are not effective without content. So, Mahajak assisted the client to create content that would make their brand standout and be appealing to patrons.”
The Grande Centre Point Lumphini hotel showcases how technology, design, and user experience can converge to create dynamic, multi-functional spaces that inspire collaboration, entertainment, and innovation. It serves as a model for how technology is powering the evolution of hospitality facilities across Asia Pacific.
