Vioso launches Exaplan architectural and engineering visualisation software

Vioso has launched Exaplan, its visualization software for real-time projection of architectural floor layouts and blueprints in a 1:1 scale.

Exaplan is designed to optimise the design, simulation, and documentation process of projection environments. This collaboration tool aims to enable teams to walk through, interact with, and collaborate on their projects in real time.

Exaplan was born from an aviation-grade plan projection project in 2017, where absolute precision was non-negotiable. Vioso realised that this same precision was also needed in other industries where teams struggled to collaborate, interpret 2D CAD data, and communicate spatial intent effectively.

Now commercially available to the broader AV market, this software bridges the gap between conceptual design and technical execution, empowering architects and engineers to make better spatial decisions early in the project lifecycle. Available as standalone software or as part of a turnkey solution, the platform enables real-time, true-to-scale (1:1) presentation of CAD-based floor plans in projection rooms.

Commenting on its core feature, Ahmed Jerbi, technical lead, said: “You can import any drawing and instantly project it to real-world dimensions using simple reference points—automatically adapting to any space; this means you can navigate through the projected plan in true scale regardless of the size of your physical room. Combined with its centralized control covering content management, automation, and communication with projectors, software, and devices—Exaplan functions as a centralised dashboard for the entire visual system.”

Unlike VR-based solutions, Exaplan encourages group interaction in physical space. Outside of architecture, Exaplan finds use in industrial applications: by projecting digital designs directly into manufacturing environments, it serves as worker guidance during operations, improving efficiency, reducing errors, and enhancing quality control.

Traditional 2D plans and isolated VR tools fail to convey real-world spatial relationships, often leading to costly late-stage design changes. Exaplan solves this by enabling true scale projection of CAD layouts in real space, allowing teams to walk through and interact with their designs together. It bridges the gap between conceptual planning and technical execution, reducing miscommunication and helping to avoid expensive mistakes.

Beyond planning, Exaplan is also a marketing tool, as it enables clients to experience and appreciate the full value, scale, and impact of their future spaces, making it easier to win trust, accelerate decision-making, and secure approvals.

Commenting on the software, Benjamin Fritsch, CEO, Vioso, said: “Unlike improvised setups, Exaplan includes dedicated software built specifically for 1:1 projection mapping, combined with Vioso’s proven calibration expertise. It’s a complete, out-of-the-box solution that works where others struggle.”

He continued: “Our advanced multi-display management handles complex projection surfaces out of the box, with perfect warping, edge blending and automatic recalibration—something competitors often can’t deliver without major manual effort.”
