Case Study: Corporate videowall, India

AV over IP is the future for signal transmission in the AV world. As clients and end users begin to come to this realisation, adoption of AV over IP systems is increasing. A global payment technology solution company recently chose AV over IP for the deployment of a videowall at its office in India. The purpose of the videowall was surveillance system and access control entry.

Kaizen Techniks, a premier partner of Aurora Multimedia India, provided the system integration and executed the project.

Akshay Kate, Manager for Sales & Application for the West Region in Aurora Multimedia India, speaks regarding the project: “The client’s requirement was to design and build the videowall on their network. Thus, the IP-based videowall was installed on fast-track due to the expediting of AV gear by Aurora and execution by Kaizen.”

Kate says: “The client is having Centralised Control & Monitoring System in their Mumbai office from where they monitor four different location, Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata and of course Mumbai office. Every location they have one dedicated server for monitoring the entry and exit via CCTV Camera and the access control. So they wanted to monitor and view all the objects on a big screen like a videowall.”

He continues: “There were four local servers running in the control and monitoring room and they wanted to view them all on large display with multiple pre-sets like if any one input is seen on big screen, all inputs can be seen on videowall. They also were keen on having the flexibility for switching the input at any time at any of the display.”

Aurora Multimedia VLX-TC1-C transceivers (encoders and decoders) are used for signal transmission while an Aurora Multimedia QXP-2 quad core IP control system is used for handling processing duties for the content. A 24-port 1Gb network switch is also employed.

Kate says: “In the given scenario, an IP-based set up was the best option. Aurora being pioneer in AV over IP domain, presented its IP-based solution that did not require traditional cabling set up; unlike other OEM’s in the market. Aurora systems comes with in-built video processors and controllers which eliminates the need of additional units saving both – cost and rack space.”

With regards to challenges, Kate says: “Putting all the equipment in client network and configuration of switch was challenging and time consuming task due to client’s network firewall setting. But after communicating with client network team we were able to overcome this issue.”

To conclude, Kate comments: “The installation is fully operational and the client is really happy and excited with the functionality. The state-of-art video wall solution with minimal rack space and units, all that with ease of use, undoubtedly brings smile on client’s face.”
