Sony held an event at the Science Centre Singapore to highlight its latest range of projection offerings. The focus was on laser projectors which account for a greater share of Sony’s projector sales than sales of UHP models according to a spokesperson from Sony.
On display was the VPL-GTZ1 which is an ultra-short throw, laser projector that displays visuals in 4K SXRD resolution. The projector also has a brightness of 2,000 lumens and is one of Sony’s latest products. The VPL-FHZ55 on the other hand is a 3LCD laser projector with a brightness of 4,000 lumens.
Fulldome.pro was present at the event to demonstrate the FHZ55 in action. A 7m dome had been constructed on site and with the help of five FHZ55 projectors provided attendees with an immersive experience.
Tripleplay, was also present at the event to talk about the integration of their services IPTV platform into Sony displays to eliminate the need for media players in IPTV applications. Steve Rickless, CEO for Tripleplay, also announced that the company will be opening a Singapore office in the coming months.
