Christie RGB pure laser and 1DLP laser projectors sit at the heart of the Rudra Sagar light and sound shows in the ancient city of Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh.
Immersive imagery is projected across three synchronised water screens and the Mahakal Lok Lotus Pond in a technically demanding open-air environment.
Created and delivered by CS Direkt Events & Exhibitions, the installation was designed as a multimedia experience and journey to deepen spiritual engagement while also preserving the sanctity of a revered religious environment.
Three Griffyn 4K50-RGB projectors are used for the water-screen mapping show, creating panoramic imagery across a fountain stretch of almost 100 metres across the sacred Rudra Sagar lake. The Griffyns are configured for long-distance projection, creating a visual canvas which spans three synchronised water screens over approximately 90 metres.

The projection systems extend to the Lotus Pond within the Mahakal Lok Corridor, where two Griffyn 4K35-RGB pure laser projectors display lifelike imagery on a retractable screen, using three 4K22-HS 1DLP laser projectors to illuminate a 10-metre high status of Lord Shiva.
The installation presented challenges posed by long projection distances, extreme heat, dust, and humidity, as well as low water levels and strict restrictions on permanent construction within an active sacred site. To address this, the projectors were installed on specialised floating, weatherproof platforms and housed in customised environmental enclosures designed for daily operation.
The projection systems were integrated with programmable fountains and centralised show control, enabling frame-accurate synchronisation between visuals and the wider show system. No permanent mounting infrastructure was permitted due to heritage preservation regulations, requiring custom housings and floating platforms to achieve technical performance, minimal visual intrusion, and ensure long-term dependability.
