GDC Technology announced the grand opening of the Tricorne Premium LED cinema screen in the Platinum auditorium at Majestic Cineplex in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The 13m Tricorne Premium LED, installed through a partnership with Cine Digital and operated by Ceylon Theatres, is among the most advanced direct view cinema presentation systems in the region.
The Platinum auditorium features a 13m floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall Tricorne Premium LED screen. The Tricorne Premium LED cinema screen has a fully acoustically transparent perforated design, enabling loudspeakers to be installed directly behind it.
Powered by the GDC LED media server with built-in CineCache solid-state storage (4TB), the system is engineered for high reliability, targeting a Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of up to 100,000 hours. The installation also incorporates the active 3D solution, delivering brighter and more stable 3D images with minimal crosstalk.
Sanjay Niles, executive director, CT Holdings, said: “Upgrading to the 13m Tricorne Premium LED screen has transformed our Platinum auditorium. The acoustically transparent design allows us to deliver both breathtaking visuals and properly localized sound, creating a truly immersive experience for our audiences.”
Sachin Shetty, country head, India of GDC Technology, said: “This milestone installation of the first Tricorne Premium LED validates the growing demand for HDR cinema technology across South Asia. With Tricorne Premium LED, exhibitors can deliver premium visual performance while preserving true cinematic sound, setting a new standard for modern cinema presentation.”
Wasim Cader, chairman of Cine Digital, commented: “We are proud to partner with GDC Technology and Ceylon Theatres in delivering this landmark installation at Majestic Cineplex. The Tricorne Premium LED screen represents a significant step forward in cinema presentation, combining cutting-edge visual performance with precise audio integration.
