Robot at Malaysian AI experience centre demonstrates the future of medical care

Flexiv has announced the installation of its Rizon 4 adaptive robot in the gallery section of Malaysia’s newly launched CelcomDigi AI Experience Centre (AiX).

The facility, located in Subang Jaya’s Hi-Tech Park, highlights the transformative power of 5G and AI in creating innovative digital solutions across multiple sectors.

AiX's multiple immersive and interactive exhibits provide visitors with a glimpse into the future by demonstrating a range of solutions across multiple verticals such as manufacturing, logistics, energy, fleet, port, healthcare, education, and agritech.

Taking centre stage at the gallery, Flexiv's Rizon 4 adaptive robot demonstrates the future of medical technology by autonomously performing ultrasound scanning.

Commonly used for examining the abdominal and pelvic organs, as well as the heart and major blood vessels, the ultrasound technique allows medical practitioners to take a snapshot inside the body without the need for invasive procedures.

Owing to its industrial force control technology, the Rizon 4 can react instantly to follow the contours of a body — ensuring an optimal pressure between the ultrasound tool and the patient is maintained. This consistency and precision enhances the accuracy and reliability of the scan, enabling a high-fidelity image to be created.

As part of their commitment to developing additional medical applications, Flexiv will soon release a dedicated medical version of the Rizon 4.

Jeff Ng, Flexiv’s APAC sales manager, commented: “Flexiv is excited to be a part of this ground-breaking initiative with CelcomDigi. The installation of the Flexiv Rizon 4 robot at AiX underscores our commitment to advancing healthcare quality through robotics and developing new medical applications.”

Launched by Malaysia’s communications minister Fahmi Fadzil, AIX aims to be a hub for cross-industry collaboration, leveraging emerging technologies such as 5G, AI, extended reality, robotics, analytics, and the Metaverse.
