INFOBIT AV has introduced the iPower IEC8, an eight-port smart power distribution unit designed to give integrators remote control and monitoring of equipment within professional AV and IT systems.
The 1U rackmount PDU features an IEC C20 input supporting up to 16A and eight individually controllable IEC C13 outputs, rated at up to 10A per outlet. Individual outlets can be remotely switched or power-cycled, allowing integrators and technology teams to reboot connected equipment without physically accessing the rack. Power-on and power-off sequences can also be scheduled, providing greater control over system start-up and shutdown routines.
The iPower IEC8 provides outlet-level monitoring of voltage, current, power factor and cumulative energy consumption, alongside system-wide information through its web-based management interface. This allows operators to monitor power use across individual pieces of equipment as well as the complete PDU. For integration with wider AV control, network management and IoT platforms, the unit includes dual RJ45 network connections and supports MQTT, SNMP, Telnet, SSH and Modbus TCP. RS-232 is also provided for integration with control systems.
Monitoring and protection functions include overload protection and wiring-error detection, with email alerts available to flag power-related issues to system administrators. RADIUS and password authentication provide additional options for controlling access to the device.
Front-panel controls provide local access to the outlets when required, while NTP and manual clock synchronisation support scheduled power routines. Operating across 110–250V AC at 50/60Hz, the iPower IEC8 has a stated standby power consumption of 1.5W.
INFOBIT is positioning the PDU for applications including meeting and conference environments, higher education installations and commercial control rooms where multiple AV and IT devices need to be monitored, rebooted or managed remotely.
