A.F.S. Engineering provided the AV systems for the multi-purpose hall and lecture theatres at the new campus of Kolej Damansara Utama university. Hurrairah bin Sohail examines the details of the project.

AV equipment for educational institutes has become a necessity. Proper AV systems in a university setting serve to enhance the learning experience provided by helping the teaching staff get their message across with ease.

When Kolej Damansara Utama (KDU) setup a new campus in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia they called upon AFS Engineering to handle integration for the project. AVT Consultants Sdn Bhd was involved as well in the capacity of consultants. The entire project was worth RM 1million (approximately US$275,400) and was completed in late 2014.

Sandhi Soong, assistant senior manager for product development at A.F.S. Engineering, talks about the scope of the project: “The scope of the project included supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning of audio visual, drapery rigging and stage lighting system for the multi-purpose hall and the lecture halls.”

From the beginning KDU made their expectations clear. Soong continues: “The end-user expected us to deliver a proper audio visual system to enhance their teaching facility while also ensuring that the complete audio visual requirements for the lecture halls and multi-purpose hall, for situations such as event organization, were met.”

Products for the AV systems at the KDU campus were chosen based on their level of performance in relation to the price of the product.
