Case Study: Reckitt Benckiser, Indonesia

Hurrairah bin Sohail discovers how Vega Indonesia supplied the modernising touch for Reckitt Benckiser as it moved office and upgraded its AV systems.

Reckitt Benckiser acquired Mead Johnson in Indonesia in 2017. The acquisition meant that Reckitt Benckiser needed to move to a new office located at Treasury Tower, SCBD, Jakarta, Indonesia to accommodate its expanded team size. It also took the opportunity to evaluate its AV systems and upgrade them to meet Reckitt Benckiser’s modern requirements.

Vega Indonesia was selected to handle the project and Melvin Halpito, country manager for Vega Indonesia, talks about the integrator’s involvement: “The project commenced in the second half of 2018 and was completed in early 2019. This was a complete design and build project handled by Vega Indonesia. We designed the AV systems and delivered it and were responsible for all the works from installation to testing and commissioning.”

Discussions with Reckitt Benckiser ensured that clear requirements and objectives had been set for the AV systems. Halpito details: “There were a number of components to this project and each had its own specific objectives that we as the integrator had to achieve. The most important part of the project was the partners’ room which is a space meant for the managers and higher-ups at Reckitt Benckiser. They wanted to move away from the use of cables and wanted a wireless solution.”

He continues: “We also had to design a number of meeting rooms of different sizes. While the usage of the rooms was similar, the main difference between them was the number of people who would be in the rooms. Our main challenge for the meeting rooms was fitting them with a display that was appropriate for the size of the room and one that could be easily seen by all the participants of the meetings.”

For the partner’s room, the AV system provided is simple with a focus on providing a seamless user experience. The display is a Samsung 55-in commercial panel. Barco Clickshare is provided for wireless collaboration. Audio is handled by the Samsung panel’s built-in speakers.

Selecting a commercial panel was essential. Peter Eduard, technical manager for Vega Indonesia and heading up the engineering department, says: “After evaluating the usage requirements for the partners’ room, we let Reckitt Benckiser know that they needed a display with high integrity. The meeting room is used quite a lot and we needed a display that could handle the high volume of usage. It was our duty as the integrator to educate the end user about the benefits of commercial panels and propose the best solution for them which would cause them the least hassle.”

Regarding the selection for wireless presentation, Eduard details: “The Barco Clickshare was the best possible option for Reckitt Benckiser when it came to wireless presentation. As I mentioned, the partners’ room is used heavily by a number of people. We cannot limit the type of devices they bring. It could be a Windows laptop or a Macbook.
