Australia invests $6.7 million to advance women in STEM

The Australian government has allocated $6.7 million in funding to support and expand the role of women in STEM.

Women currently make up 28% of personnel in the STEM field, with the latest funding divided over a number of programmes.

$2 million will be provided over four years to extend the Superstars of STEM programme, provided by Science and Technology Australia (STA), equipping women in STEM with opportunities in media, schools and on stage.

He programme also aims to grow its number of celebrity women scientists to inspire new generations, with funding allocated to develop 120 women into future leaders in the STEM sector.
