Harman acquires ‘world-class audio brands’ Bowers & Wilkins, Denon and Marantz

Masimo Corporation has agreed to sell its Sound United consumer audio business to Harman International, a Samsung company.

The global medical technology business announces the sale for a total purchase price of $350 million in cash, subject to certain adjustments and regulatory approvals.

Dave Rogers, president of Harman’s Lifestyle division, said: “Sound United’s portfolio of world-class audio brands including Bowers & Wilkins, Denon and Marantz, will join Harman’s iconic family of brands, including JBL, Harman Kardon, AKG, Mark Levinson, Arcam, and Revel.”

The sale, expected to close by the end of 2025, comes after Masimo announced its ongoing strategic focus on professional healthcare.

Katie Szyman, CEO of Masimo, highlighted: “A key objective has been refocusing our business to ensure we are allocating time and resources to areas of unmet clinical need and driving growth and operational efficiencies.”

Rogers said the acquisition builds on a shared legacy of innovation in audio technology and will open up more choices for consumers.
