Held on November 15th and 16th at the RBDSA Sports Complex, the Cherry Blossom Festival 2024 in Shillong, India, drew an attendance of over 50,000 visitors on each of the two days of its span.
The festival boasted three distinct performance stages, each of which included a line-up of artists from India and all over the world.
KG Movie was tasked to design and execute the sound system, LED displays, and lighting effects at the festival.
KG Movie collaborated with Clockwork AV to deliver an immersive audio experience.
The on-ground operations team comprising Vicky Singh, Joyjeet Panday, Sourav Bagchi, Anil Chaudhary, Karan Acharya, Akash Deep Majumdar and Yudhajit Biswas worked to ensure that every technical aspect was executed with military precision. KG Movie’s system technicians, Surojit Dhal and Ravikant Prasad, facilitated equipment logistics and crew coordination.
At the core of the audio setup was a d&b audiotechnik loudspeaker system. The KSL line array system formed the backbone of the main PA, with a total of 32 units of the KSLs lining the performance stage in stereo configuration to provide uniform coverage across the audience. A total of 16 units of SL-GSUB subwoofers and 12 units of B22 subwoofers were placed in front of the stage.
To ensure that audience members located at the farthest ends of the section also enjoyed a similar high-quality soundscape, total of 24 units of d&b’s V-Series line arrays were deployed to serve as the delay reinforcement system.
KG Movie utilised d&b’s MAX2 loudspeakers as the main stage monitoring reinforcement, while also deploying a total of 6 units of T10 line array modules paired with B6 subwoofers as the side-fill reinforcements. Over 24 channels of the 2050 series in-ear monitors from Sennheiser, along with Axient wireless systems from Shure were made available by team KG Movie.
For control and management of the audio setup, mixing consoles from DiGiCo were used. At Front of House (FOH), the team installed a DiGiCo SD10 digital mixing console, complete with multiple SD Racks for enhanced I/O expansion. This entire setup was managed through Optocore networking.
Manoj Singh, director of KG Movie, concluded: “The Cherry Blossom Festival represents everything we stand for—passion, innovation, and a commitment to excellence. And we are truly humbled by the faith that Jason Manners from Rockski EMG and Ali Zaidi and Anupam Arora from Event Network placed in us. This festival is undoubtedly a hallmark event in India’s live music scene, and it was an absolute privilege to work with such a visionary organising team. Together, we aimed to create a truly immersive sonic journey—and judging by the overwhelming response, I believe we delivered true on that promise.”
