Kramer discusses future technology at product seminar

At an event held at the Carlton Hotel in Singapore, Kramer showcased a range of its systems and discussed the future of its technology. Among the topics discussed were HDBaseT, 4K resolution and security for networked systems.

One of the Kramer products on show was the VIA campus. David Chua, regional manager at Kramer, showcased its capabilities. Up to 12 devices can be connected with the VIA Camus and it also supports a range of software. At the event, a VIA Campus system was setup to highlight how it may perform in the education sector.

Keren Lipshitz, product manager at Kramer, talked about HDBaseT 2.0 which Kramer supports. Lipshitz said that the latest version of the standard will allow the use USB while also providing certifiable support for PoE (power over Ethernet). Kramer provides receiver/transmitters which support HDBaseT 2.0 and expect to continue releasing products that have HDBaseT 2.0 ports.

With regards to 4K, Kramer representatives stated that the resolution is already being adopted and supported by manufacturers. Kramer is already looking towards the future which is 8K resolution and test broadcasts in 8K are planned for 2016 with the Tokyo Olympics 2020 set to be broadcast in 8K entirely.

Lipshitz also detailed the security provided by HighSecLab with its KM and KVM products. HighSecLab is partnered with Kramer and the latter provides sales and service for the former’s products in all regions except Israel and the United States of America. With AV signals being transmitted over the digital networks, it is becoming increasingly important to secure data. HighSecLabs achieves this with disabling the bi-directional features of USB and HDMI cables.

According to Lipshitz, HighSecLab products are widely used in the government and defense sector. HighSecLab is targeting the finance sector to further its growth. For this purpose, a trading terminal demonstration was setup. This included four laptops connected to four Samsung displays with a K304 KM 4-port USB managing input across all the computers.
