PMA Research hails double-digit flat panel market growth in 2019

PMA Research, a global market information source, has published its updated sell-through tracking report on large-scale (32-in and larger) flat panel displays sold by North American dealers and systems integrators.

Unit volume and revenues for sales of large-format flat panel displays increased by double digits, with the fourth quarter marking the third consecutive quarter of ‘year-on-year’ growth. 

Unit sales closed 14% higher than 2018’s, with revenues higher by 15% at the end of 2019. 

The biggest contributors to 2019 ‘year-over-year’ growth includes the sales of 4K UHD, interactive and direct view LED displays following a decline of 4K UHD pricing since the beginning of 2019. 

Contrarily, the prices of FHD displays increased as supplies declined, with the prices for HD displays (50-in – 55-in category) in the fourth quarter of 2019 up by almost 10%. 
PMA reported that there had been ‘solid growth’ in the interactive displays market, with unit sales in December 2019 increasing by double digits when compared to December 2019, with a gain of nearly 50% over 2018. 

Direct-view LED installations were reported to account for 15% of total revenues in December 2019, with direct-view LED generating 8% of total revenues for the entirety of 2019 versus the 1% of total revenues in 2018.
