Powersoft amplification has been chosen to drive the newly upgraded audio system at the Roppongi Hills development in Tokyo, Japan. The outdoor area, which is home to office space, apartments, shops, restaurants, cafés, cinemas, a museum, a hotel, a major TV studio, an outdoor amphitheatre and a few parks, can now be used for a variety of live entertainment and red carpet events, with due consideration given to any noise pollution issues.
After the careful deliberation, integration specialist for the project, Audio Brains, specified five Powersoft X4 DSP+D for the upgrade, which were carefully tuned to maximise the potential of the Martin Audio loudspeakers selected. A Symetrix Radius 12x8 was selected to feed the signals to the amps via Dante in order to ensure clear, pristine sound delivery with no loss of signal.
Using Powersoft’s specialised control software, Armonía, alongside the amps, all of the output signals can be optimised and the limiters adopted properly.
Sato, who was in charge of the audio side of the project, commented: “The latest installation has served as a solution to many compromises that were made here in the past. The goal of premium audience sound is obvious, but there was many issues; particularly arising from the fact that the venue is open air and so at risk of causing noise pollution to the neighbours. In addition to that, the old loudspeaker locations were not good enough to cover every seat in the venue.”
