Absen x Refik Anadol AI art installation at ISE 2025

Absen is collaborating with artist and director, Refik Anadol, during ISE 2025 at its booth 3N400 with a digital art installation ‘California Landscapes’ that will showcase an experimentation of the Stable Diffusion model, which represents one of the technologies in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) for image generation.

‘California Landscapes’ uses adaptive discriminator augmentation to generate synthetic images, from which the creative visualisation captured ‘hallucinations’ of the stunning landscapes of California in a multi-dimensional space. To create these hallucinations, Anadol and his team gathered data from digital archives and publicly accessible sources and processed them using machine-learning classification models.

Once the image selection was complete, the AI, when left inactive and unsupervised, created abstract landscapes, generating new aesthetic visuals, colour combinations, and unique lines formed by algorithmic connections.

The AI Data Painting will be displayed on Absen’s largest MicroLED offering on show at ISE. Taking centre stage at 16.3 million pixels, 4,200mm by 6,075mm, Absen’s MicroLED wall will be equipped with multiple advanced Absen image optimisation technologies, bringing the visuals to life.

Ruben Rengel, executive vice president at Absen, explained: “We are delighted to showcase Refik Anadol’s groundbreaking work at ISE 2025. This collaboration exemplifies the innovative potential of Absen’s LED display technology, transforming Refik’s visionary art into a fully immersive experience that pushes the boundaries of creativity and technology. We are eager to captivate visitors at our booth with this extraordinary feature and inspire them with what’s possible when art and cutting-edge technology come together.”
