Biamp delivers Vocia paging and background music system for Perth Hotel

Biamp Vocia networked paging and background music solution were deployed at a new hotel in central Perth, Australia. The systems were installed by AV integrator Integrate Perth providing control and audio distribution across the hotel’s expansive multi-level hospitality spaces.

The venue includes two floors of restaurants, foyer areas, an upstairs bar with multiple entertainment zones, and a DJ station with audio input all demanding precise control and audio distribution across dozens of background music and paging zones. Originally scoped with a traditional fixed input-output digital signal processor system, the project design evolved when the scale and complexity of the venue became clearer.

Andrew Anderson-King, sales director, Integrate Perth, said: “When we looked at the project, it screamed at us that this was perfect for Biamp Vocia. We needed multiple paging zones, flexible BGM (background music) distribution, and simple control for end users. Vocia ticked every box.”

At the heart of the system sits the Biamp Vocia MS-1 message server, which manages and monitors every Vocia device on the network, with built-in logging and diagnostics. Biamp TEC-1 wall panels empower staff to adjust BGM sources and volume levels on the fly without requiring the need for advanced AV training or knowledge.

Anderson-King said: “The beauty of Vocia is that we could implement a multi-channel amplifier effectively anywhere throughout the hotel over the network. From there, we could run traditional high or low impedance audio from each amplifier to its respective zone. Vocia provided a good solution in terms of simple implementation, simple installation, very simple programming, and flexibility.”

The hotel now benefits from a fully networked paging and background music system that meets the demands of both operators and guests.
