A Genelec sound system is channelling the artistic vision of Shreya Ghoshal in a dynamic AV studio located in the Santacruz West area of Mumbai.
Genelec studio monitoring sits at the heart of this studio, named The Sanctuary, which emphasises a sense of calm and comfort in the heart of Mumbai.
Shreya said: “Most Mumbai studios are small because of limited space and cost, while the big ones are too large for a single vocalist. I wanted a place of the right size where you can sit, ideate, relax, play games, discuss with your band, and move around freely.”
The Sanctuary plan includes a control room, a dedicated piano room, small and large isolation booths, as well as a double-height live room which offers an environment to capture every nuance of the artist’s performance.
The Sanctuary team specified Genelec 1238DF midfield SAM models in conjunction with a 7370 SAM subwoofer configured and calibrated using GLM loudspeaker manager software. For nearfield monitoring, The Sanctuary hosts a pair of two-way 8030C models in Genelec’s RAW aluminium finish which were originally supplied for Shreya’s home studio during the pandemic.
Shreya adds: “Genelec monitors have been a part of my life from the beginning, with all the big studios in Mumbai using them. They have power, precision, and aren’t coloured. Many monitors produce mixes that sound different when you take them elsewhere; but Genelec sounds true”.
“This studio gives solitude when needed and space to bounce ideas with others. It works for every artist who comes here – and thanks to the accuracy of Genelec monitoring, we always know what we’re doing.”
