L-Acoustics K1 powers beach nightclub in Northern Vietnam after typhoon damage

Valley Beach Club, a beachside nightclub and entertainment venue in Northern, completed an audio transformation with the installation of a L-Acoustics K1 professional sound system.

The 5,000-capacity venue, situated on 4,800-square-metre beachfront site at Ha Long Bay, attracts a regular programme of international artists and DJs ranked in the DJ Mag Top 100.

Valley Beach Club's relationship with L-Acoustics began in mid-2019 with an initial K2 system installation at their previous location. In early 2024, the club relocated to its current expansive beachfront site, where the significantly larger space demanded an enhanced audio solution featuring additional K2, K1-SB, and KS28 components.

However, a powerful typhoon that struck the region later in 2024 caused substantial damage to several K2 enclosures, presenting both a challenge and an opportunity for the venue's ownership team.

Thang from Pro-AVL Vietnam, L-Acoustics certified distributor, headquartered in Hanoi, commented: "The restoration process following the typhoon provided Valley Beach Club with a unique opportunity to elevate their audio capabilities to match their vision. The venue's ownership specifically requested a K1 system design, recognising that L-Acoustics' flagship line array speakers are synonymous with world-class EDM programming."

The comprehensive restoration was completed in November 2024, featuring a K1 system configuration designed by L-Acoustics APAC senior application engineer, Chung Wah Khiew while working with the Pro-AVL Vietnam team.

Valley Beach Club's beachside location presents unique acoustic challenges that demand precision engineering. The venue operates within a densely populated entertainment district where neighboring venues create a complex, noise-sensitive audio environment.

Thang shares: "Designing an optimal system for Valley Beach Club required careful consideration of both the unique coastal environment and the venue's ambitious programming requirements. The K1's superior power and precision capabilities ensure consistent, impactful sound coverage across the entire venue while minimising spillage to surrounding properties."

The coastal setting also subjects equipment to significant climatic challenges, from salt-air exposure to dramatic weather fluctuations.

The final main system features left/right hangs of four K1-SB subwoofers and twelve K1 line array elements, with two K2 enclosures per side providing extended coverage. Six ground stacks of four KS28 subwoofers each are strategically positioned at the front of the stage, delivering the massive low-end impact essential for contemporary EDM programming.

Front-fill coverage is provided through carefully positioned A10 loudspeakers: two sets of A10 Wide enclosures atop the outer subwoofer stacks and two sets of dual A10 Focus units on the middle stacks. This configuration ensures consistent coverage across all audience areas, from the main dance floor to elevated viewing positions.

Performing DJs benefit from dedicated monitoring through a pair of A15 enclosures mounted on KS21 subwoofers, providing clear, powerful monitoring that cuts through the main system's massive output. The entire installation is powered by 24 LA12X amplified controllers operating over a Milan-AVB network protocol with seamless audio network redundancy, creating a reliable infrastructure that supports the venue's demanding technical requirements.

Vietnamese musician, composer, and producer Bui Huy Tuan, who facilitated the connection between Pro-AVL Vietnam and Valley Beach Club, concluded: "Having experienced K1 at large-scale concerts featuring artists like Adele, BlackPink, and Bruno Mars, I was overwhelmed by the experience with K1 at Valley Beach Club. The sophistication in each frequency range creates something magical — for the first time in a club environment, I could hear bass melodies with perfect clarity. The frequency separation at different listening angles creates a complete, clear experience that brings entirely different emotions to the club space."
