Located in Suzhou, China, Liverse is a 10,000 sq m indoor space featuring a stunning 1,000 sq m high-definition screen with 270-degree sightlines and glasses-free 3D technology for its 3,000-capacity audience.
The venue is equipped with China's first permanent installation of L series progressive ultra-dense line source professional audio system.
The joint venture between Suzhou Broadcast Station (SBS) and Cheng Tian Entertainment faced certain challenges: creating an audio environment that could match the venue's visual displays, ensuring consistent sound coverage throughout the standing-only venue, and designing a system flexible enough to adapt to the venue's innovative automated stage configurations.
L-Acoustics certified provider distributor, Rightway Audio Consultants (RAC), were tasked with designing and installing the system. Vincent Zhou, technical director at RAC, commented: "We were tasked with creating a powerful audio experience that could match Liverse's extraordinary visual capabilities. The venue partners with world-renowned music festivals like Glastonbury, Westwood, and Summer Sonic. Our solution needed to deliver exceptional sound clarity to complement their cutting-edge AR, VR, MR, and holographic projection technology."
RAC's solution features L2 and L2D arrays. Zhou elaborated: "The L series addressed several critical challenges elegantly. It provides exceptional clarity and impact throughout the venue, transforming the listening experience. Choosing L series streamlined our installation process thanks to its intuitive and ultra-fast rigging system. Perhaps most impressively, the compact form factor maintains clean sightlines throughout the venue while giving the Liverse technical team the flexibility to quickly adapt to different performance configurations – from intimate concerts to expansive theatrical productions."
The configuration features L-Acoustics L series for the main arrays, with A10 speakers as side-fill and front-fill systems. The svelte A10i Focus were chosen for its clean aesthetics, while the L-Acoustics X12 enclosures were selected for under-balcony fills.
The project's success hinged on meticulous planning via L-Acoustics Soundvision 3D audio modelling software, and LA Network Manager. Zhou added: "Our engineers generated detailed audio coverage maps of the L Series system while collaborating closely with the Cheng Tian Entertainment team. We designed audio coverage zones that dance alongside the venue's 270-degree visual display system, creating an audiovisual harmony that neither technology could achieve alone."
Zhou concluded: "Today's audiences expect exceptional audiovisual experiences, and with the L series, we've created an audio environment that perfectly complements the venue's visual spectacle. We're delighted to have introduced China's first permanent L series installation in a venue that embraces artistic innovation."
