Taipei welcomes 2026 with Coda Audio

The Taiwanese capital city Taipei welcomed in 2026 with a high-energy New Year concert staged at City Hall Plaza. The outdoor event, themed as ‘Sailing to the Future’, featured a diverse mix of international stars and local icons.

With high quality, reliable production fundamental to the success of such an important event, hosts CTI Television, who also live-streamed the show, placed audio production duties in the hands of JustMusic who designed and deployed a Coda Audio system supplied by Orpheus Acoustics.

The wide variety of acts from powerhouse vocalists to pop, urban sounds, and DJ sets required powerful, versatile, and reliable audio. JustMusic designed and installed a comprehensive system based on Coda’s flagship AiRAY compact line array. In spite of persistent rain throughout the build and subsequent show, the weather had no negative impact on the quality, performance, or reliability of the system.

JustMusic installed a system comprising (per side) main hangs of 16 x AiRAY with 6 x SC2-F flown subs. A further 4 x AiRAY and 12 x CiRAY (per side) acted as sidefills, with a total of 24 x SCP sensor-controlled subwoofers on the ground. Eight HOPS10 10-in high output point source units completed the system as front fills. The system was driven by Coda Audio Linus DSP amplifiers. A further bonus offered by the system was that its compact nature meant there was minimal impact on sightlines, an important consideration for a show which incorporated a backdrop of large video screens.

Andy Chen of Orpheus Audio commented: “The response from everyone was overwhelmingly positive. The technicians in attendance were particularly impressed by the SCP subwoofers. Even though we deployed a relatively small number of units for a space that size, the low-end performance was massive. Additionally, observers noted that while the arrays look remarkably compact, the energy and output they deliver were more than enough to fill the entire area.”
