Vitec has partnered with LG Electronics to deliver IPTV and digital signage over private 5G networks. The strategic alliance, which pairs Vitec’s existing technology with LG Electronics’s private 5G network expertise, aims to deliver a “wire-like” experience for mission-critical enterprise video.
The integrated technology solution, which will be demonstrated at the 2026 InfoComm trade show in Las Vegas, is aimed to be suited to sports and entertainment venues, as well as large public venues including airports, conference centres, hotels, and casinos.
It seeks to enable IPTV and digital signage to be deployed without wired connections, allowing organszations to add screens without network drops, support portable or temporary installations, and extend existing systems to new indoor and outdoor areas without requiring costly cabling.
Eli Garten, senior vice president, global IPTV & partner solutions, Vitec, said: “We’re very excited to be working with LG Electronics and bringing this private 5G technology to market. This combined solution gives large-scale venues flexibility to deploy IPTV and digital signage without the constraints of wired infrastructure. With video applications, performance has traditionally been a limiting factor over wireless networks, but with this new integrated solution with we can now confidently deliver the same low latency streaming and reliability our customers expect from Vitec.”
Private 5G networks are purpose-built, on-site cellular networks that operate on licensed spectrum, giving organizations greater control over performance, security and reliability. Unlike Wi-Fi, which operates on shared, unlicensed spectrum and can be affected by congestion or interference, private 5G networks provide a more consistent and predictable environment suited to real-time video applications.
Joon Sung Lee, private 5G head in the LG Electronics CTO’s office, said: “While private 5G is already being adopted across sectors such as manufacturing, transportation and healthcare, its use for enterprise video remains at an early stage. Now, together with VITEC, we are demonstrating how video can be delivered reliably over next-generation wireless networks.”
Key customer benefits of the integration of Vitec’s IPTV and digital signage platforms with LG Electronics’s end-to-end private 5G solution include on-site core infrastructure, distributed antennas, and centralized management software.
A further advantage of private 5G is improved coverage, particularly in large or complex environments. Compared with Wi-Fi, the technology offers greater range and improved penetration through walls and structures, making it well suited to environments that combine indoor and outdoor spaces.
The solution has undergone extensive testing and is based on the integration of two existing, commercially available technologies. Vitec and LG Electronics aim to accelerate adoption by demonstrating how IPTV and digital signage systems can operate seamlessly over private 5G, enabling more flexible and scalable AV deployments.
As part of the collaboration, VITEC and LG Electronics will jointly demonstrate the technology in the United States at InfoComm 2026, where a live private 5G network will be used to deliver video content across the show floor.
