Inavate APAC collaborates with HKIIT to inspire careers in AV at Hong Kong talk

On May 30, 2025, Inavate APAC, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology (HKIIT), a member institution of the Vocational Training Council (VTC), hosted its inaugural career talk at the Q-SYS Experience Centre in Hong Kong.

Over 25 students from HKIIT, pursuing a Higher Diploma in Theme Park and Theatre Creative Technology, gathered to explore the vast opportunities available in the audio-visual industry beyond traditional theatre and staging roles.

The event featured presentations from four industry leaders. Molly Chow, executive director at Vega, discussed the exciting career paths in system integration. Henry Chan, associate director at Arup, showcased remarkable global projects and highlighted the diverse roles of an audio-visual consultant. Andy Chan, UC engineer, captivated students with insights into end-user opportunities at Jane Street, discussing future trends in the corporate AV market.

Following the presentations, a networking breakout session allowed students to engage directly with the professionals, delving deeper into potential roles as system integrators, consultants, and AV/IT end-users.

The talk concluded with Martin Cheng, assistant market development manager of Q-SYS, guiding students on a tour of the Q-SYS Experience Center. He demonstrated the innovative audio-visual technologies and the integration of tech and design in modern office spaces.

The students left energized and inspired, with many expressing surprises at the vast career possibilities in the AV industry. One attendee remarked, “I had no idea AV offered so many opportunities beyond what we study — this opens up a whole new world for us!”

The event proved to be a resounding success, bridging the gap between education and industry while highlighting the bright future of AV talent. With such positive feedback, this career talk marks just the beginning of fostering new young talent in the ever-evolving AV landscape.
