Kelvin Ashby-King has sadly passed away aged 64, leaving behind a remarkable industry legacy as a pioneer and mentor for many in the industry.
With a career spanning several decades, Kelvin blazed a trail through the AV and lighting industries. Kelvin followed his passions into the world of theatre as a lighting/sound/set design and stage/production manager.
Always leading from the front, he established his own design lighting/acoustic practice in 1988, adventuring into the worlds of lighting, acoustic, ICT, IoT, and AV design across 23 countries in Asia Pacific, India, the Middle East, and Europe.
Kelvin found his true home in India, where Kelvin led T2 Consulting Group from 2010 to 2021. In 2022, Kelvin worked as principal consultant for Clarity Consulting, where he was admired and respected for his unparalleled industry knowledge, insight, and famously larger-than-life personality.
In a statement, Clarity Consulting said: “Kelvin’s last moments were exactly as he lived – with a cigarette on his lips, audio and lighting buzzing in his head and in the midst of a work call session… We cannot image a better way for him to go than like this… Surrounded and immersed in his work, and definitely not in a hospital or a sick bed, given all his health conditions.
“We salute his life, and his immense contributions to the AV and lighting industry in India and other parts of the world and, lastly and more importantly, his love and lifelong attachment to our country, India, which was his chosen home in flesh and spirit for the last two decades.”
