Speakerbox, Bangkok’s go-to independent live music venue for alternative and emerging artists, has upgraded its audio capabilities with the installation of an L-Acoustics A series professional sound system.
Located in the fashionable Thonglor district the venue has been a cornerstone of Bangkok’s alternative music scene since 2015, hosting local and international acts performing rock and punk to soul, jazz, blues, and experimental electronic music.
Already familiar with L-Acoustics’ reputation for delivering exceptional tour-level sound, the venue’s consultant reached out directly to L-Acoustics Certified Distributor in Thailand, Vision One. For a venue renowned for platforming up-and-coming alternative bands and musical outfits with devoted local cult followings, the goal was clear: install a high-performance audio system that delivers concert-grade sound quality, while maintaining an easy-to-operate and rider-friendly system for visiting engineers.
As a venue with nightly programming spanning rock, punk, soul, jazz, and experimental electronic music, Speakerbox needed an audio system that could handle varying SPL demands, support quick changeovers, and deliver consistent quality across genres. The main challenge was achieving optimal coverage in the compact space while preserving sightlines and integrating with existing lighting. Reliability, ease of operation for visiting engineers, and rider-friendliness were essential.
Vision One employed L-Acoustics Soundvision 3D modelling software early in the design process to predict acoustic behaviour and optimise speaker placement in the space. The software allowed the team to visualise SPL coverage across the venue's audience area.

The flexibility and consistent medium-throw coverage made it the perfect fit for the client's requirements.”
As Vision One maintains a stock of key L-Acoustics components while employing an experienced installation team, they were able to recommend, design and install an A10 Wide-based system rapidly, amidst the venue’s nightly music programming, with minimal disruption to operations.
The final configuration consists of a main left-right system of one A10 Wide speaker per side, rigged into the venue’s low ceiling using A10-BUMP flying frames. Two KS21 subwoofers placed on the ground provide powerful low-end in the small-sized venue. A single LA4X amplified controller drives the compact yet powerful system.
Vision One provided on-site training focused on basic system operation and daily use while providing LA Network Manager configuration settings, all carefully calibrated and fine-tuned for optimal performance. From the venue’s perspective, the system operates as a straightforward plug-and-play solution, integrating seamlessly with their existing equipment, with the guarantee of easy operability for visiting engineers on various nights.
The modular A series system and LA4X amplifier platform allow easy expansion or adaptation to future technologies and evolving performance needs — a key consideration for a venue committed to remaining at the forefront of Bangkok's independent music scene.
Feedback from the Speakerbox team and visiting professionals has been overwhelmingly positive. Sound engineers have praised the system’s clarity and power, while performers have noted improved stage presence and consistent coverage throughout the venue.
